Monheim, Germany - Cognis, a German speciality chemical supplier, has developed a range of patented "non-ionic associative thickeners for water-based coatings," the company said 2 June.
Based on polyurethane chemistry, the DSX 3291 VOC-free (volatile organic compound) rheology modifier for "green" architectural coatings is an "excellent pseudoplastic viscocity builder, which is up to five times more efficient than conventional associative thickener products," the company said.
Suitable for all kinds of paints, the product is free from harmful VOCs and alkylphenol ethoxylates (APEOs), does not contain heavy metals (such as organic tin compounds) and is odour free, Cognis said. DSX 3291 is fully in line with the "green" trend and complies with the latest environmental regulations, the company added. (RD)
