Monheim, Germany - A "green" polyol from chemical supplier Cognis, Sovermol 815, will be used in the new colour-fast series, Vocaplast-P, from German-based pigment preparation maker Arichemie.
Sovermol 815 is a branched polyether/polyester "which brings together both technical and ecological benefits," Cognis said in a 9 Oct statement.
Cognis said the bio-based polyol series is made from renewable materials, free from solvents and VOCs (volatile organic compounds) and therefore provides a more environmentally friendly product than VOC-containing materials. "Sovermol 815 combines superb technological and ecological properties bringing about a balanced viscosity profile, high resistance to acid and alkaline solutions, good UV stability and pigment wetting as well as being markedly hydrophobic." Cognis added.
"Vocoplast-P from Arichemie is one example in which our polyol successfully contributed to the precise required development goals," concluded George Bourscheidt, product development and business support polyurethane at Cognis.
