Monheim, Germany - Cognis, a global supplier of speciality chemicals, has launched Dehydran 2293, a defoamer free from volatile organic compounds (VOCs) for high-end paint formulations such as polyurethane emulsions for wood coatings, Cognis said recently.
Accordng to Cognis, Dehydran 2293, which is suitable for both architectural and industrial paints, offers long-term efficiency, "market-leading defoaming performance and outstanding compatibility with a range of high-gloss, highly pigmented and clear coatings," the company said.
Partly derived from renewable resources, Dehydran 2293 is odour-free and does not contain any petrochemical raw material-based solvents, the company said, adding that it enables manufacturers to formulate paints which meet various environmental and safety standards.
"Dehydran 2293 is the latest addition to out range of mineral-oil-free defoamers," said Andrea Schamp, global marketing manager Cognis Functional Products, adding that having product partly derived from renewable raw materials gives customers a "high-performing solvent-free product that also meets the global trend towards environmentally sound, green products."
