Monheim, Germany - Cognis has launched a new non-ionic polyurethane thickener for all types of paint, the company said in a 2 Nov press release.
DSX 3100 is free from VOCs (volatile organic compounds) and APEs (alkylphenol ethoxylates), the statement said, adding that the product is odour-free and does not contain heavy metals or solvents.
According to Cognis, DSX 3100 is well suited to acting as a "high shear viscosity builder" which allows for reduction of other builders such as cellulose ethers and provides one-coat coverage capability.
Cognis, a global speciality chemical company, is owned by private equity funds advised by Permira, GS Capital Partners and SV Life Sciences. The company recorded sales of around Euro 3000 million ($4400 million) in 2008. (RD)
