By David Reed, UT EditorMilan, Italy & Salt Lake City, Utah-COIM USA Inc, a wholly owned subsidiary of COIM SpA of Milan, Italy, has acquired Huntsman Corp's Paulsboro, West Deptford, New Jersey site. Details of the transaction were not disclosed.COIM, a privately held company, makes a range of speciality polyurethane intermediates , resins and adhesives, in state-of-the- art manufacturing sites in Offanengo, near Milan, Hamburg, Germany, Singapore, and Sao Paolo."The North American region has always been an important goal for our expansion plans," said Francesco Buzzella, COIM's managing director, in a 10 Feb statement. "This highly sophisticated market required an investment that will complement the other regions where COIM continues to grow through focused innovation in support of our customers," he explained.Huntsman sold the 12 000-square-metre site as part of the consolidation of its North American operations to The Woodlands, near Houston, Texas.Peter Huntsman, president and CEO of Huntsman, commented, "We have a great affinity for the West Deptford area and its residents, and are pleased that a company of COIM's quality and superb reputation has acquired the site." Paul van der Pol, general manager of COIM USA, notes: "Our entry into the USA with a manufacturing base supported by world-class technical service, will provide our customers with greater options for quality products. The Paulsboro site includes manufacturing and research & development facilities as well as a sales, marketing and business complex. "COIM's current offices and laboratories in Rhode Island will transfer to these North American headquarters," van der Pol added."
