Milan, Italy -- Coim Group is investing an unspecified amount to add 20-kilotonnes-per-annum-capacity for polyester polyols at its Singapore facility. The addition will raise the plant's ability to produce both aromatic and aliphatic polyester polyols to 50 ktpa, a 15 Dec Coim announcement said.
The new capacity will come on stream in the last quarter of 2010. Milan, Italy-headquartered Coim said it made the decision to increase capacity, "In view of the growing demand in Asia Pacific region. Coim Asia Pacific saw a big surge in demand during 2009 in automotive, CASE, building insulation and footwear sectors."
Vipul Rastogi, general manager of Coim Asia Pacific, said in the statement: "Coim has a unique locational advantage in Singapore and will exploit it to the maximum to seek ever-growing opportunities and service its customer base in the entire Asian region."
Coim also recently increased its capabilities in the US by buying the assets of Air Products and Chemicals Co.'s polyurethane pre-polymers business, marketedas Airthane and Versathane.
