Dusseldorf, Germany – BASF is set to unveil a prototype office seating system that combines polyurethane materials at K2016.
The original design came from Nuremberg, Germany-based ITO Design as an entrant to the BASF designfabrik competition in 2014.
South Germany-based furniture maker Interstuhl has also been part of the creative team behind the project.
Two polyurethane foams, CosyPUR and Elastoflex W, were used to create the cushioning and the wheels are coated with Elasturan PU cast elastomer.
Interstuhl md Frank Gfrorer said described the project as “groundbreaking” adding that “it sets new standards and accounts for the changing conditions in the working world.”
ITO Design ceo Armin Sander said: “In the future, the key to success will be adaptable office environments that promote collaboration and provide the best possible reflection of teamwork in all its forms."
At K2016, which runs from 19 -26 October Stand, BASF will be at Stand C21/D21 in Hall 5.
