Fort Davis, Texas -- An epoxy and urethane coating from Comex Industrial Coatings (CIC), part of the Comex Group, is being used in the rehabilitation project at the McDonald Observatory, a research unit of the University of Austin, Texas.
Around 14 000-sq.ft (1300-sq.m) of the observatory's external surface area will be protected from the Southwest Texas sun and wind by the CIC coating - 300 gallons (1364 litres) of surface-tolerant E-10 Epoxy (two coats) and 150 gallons of high-solids U-10 Urethane (one coat), a 3 Dec company statement said.
"This is a very visible project," said Gary Vorick, Comex Industrial Product Line director. "We're ecstatic that our products are part of something bigger, a piece of the future," he added. (RD)
