Hartford, Connecticut -- Mattress manufacturer Gold Bond's Cool Response gel range will feature CertiPUR-US approved polyurethane foam materials and carry the CertiPUR-US seal.

Cool Response is part of the Hartford, Connecticut, company's EcoSense line of eco-friendly, made-in-the-US mattresses, says the firm, which has been making mattresses for over 100 years.

"As more and more consumers become environmentally conscious, the materials used in the products they buy become equally as important," commented president Bob Naboicheck, in a company statement.

"The CertiPUR-US seal offers consumers looking for eco-friendly sleep products the confidence of knowing that some of the components used to make the collection is not only cooling and comfortable but has passed strict environmental, health and safety standards."

CertiPUR-US is a voluntary testing, analysis and certification programme, developed by the global foam industry in response to an increase in substandard imported foams.

Items that carry the CertiPUR-US seal contain flexible PU foam that has been tested and certified by an independent laboratory to be sure they meet strict standards for physical performance, indoor emissions and environmental stewardship.

Mattresses made with materials that carry the CertiPUR-US seal may be marketed as providing low emissions of VOCs (volatile organic compounds) for indoor air quality and made without ozone depleting CFCs (chlorofluorocarbons), PBDE (polybrominated diethyl ether) fire retardant, formaldehyde, prohibited phthalates, mercury, lead and heavy metals.
