Correction: This story corrects the location of the new facility.
Barcelona, Spain – Morchem has added 20kT/year capacity for polyurethane and polyester adhesives. The new plant is located in Guadalajara, Spain.
The plant will support the manufacture and scale up of new products. It operates using batch production, and makes adhesives for applications in flexible packaging, textile and flat lamination, and TPU for printing inks and a number of other technical applications.
The company invested EUR 25m in the facility, which was built in 18 months. The highly automated site will employ 20 people.
Morchem, which exports 80% of its output around the world, chose the location because of good connections to ports on the country's Mediterranean and Atlantic coasts.
'This was a decision taken to support our increasing internationalisation and to assure our business continuity plan', said CEO Helmut Schaeidt.
