Jiangsu, China -- Faux leather goods manufacturer Kunshan Xiefu New Material has joined Covestro’s Insqin Partner Manufacturer Program.
The programme - designed to promote sustainable PU materials in sectors such as fashion apparel and footwear - was set up by the German chemicals manufacturer in July 2015.
Nick Smith, Covestro's global head of textile coatings, said a "growing number of brands and retailers are becoming interested in sourcing sustainable materials."
Kunshan Xeifu is the second company to join the partnership, following Korean PU synthetic materials manufacturer Duksung – as previously reported at UTECH-polyurethane.com.
Covestro - formerly Bayer MaterialScience - launched Insqin in 2014. The company estimates that 4bn m² of PU synthetic leather is manufactured each year, 90% of it made in China.
