The debottlenecking increases Covestro’s annual production capacity of TPU in North America by 25%.
'Covestro recognises the high growth potential of this market,' said Brian Long, head of TPU commercial operations. He added that increasing capacity in North America will enable the company to meet 'growing customer demand while also exploring new market opportunities for our TPU business'.
The new capacity will be used in the company's Texin products. These are aimed at automotive instrument panels, medical devices and footwear.
