Leverkusen, Germany — Covestro lifted the force majeure on MDI and TDI in Europe on 27 December 2016, the company said in a statement.
Force majeure had been declared by Covestro on October 6, 2016 as supplies of nitric acid from a key supplier were interupted. The supplier itself declared force majeure, this was lifted in late December and the supplier restarted nitric acid supply once again. Covestro therefore was able to resume full deliveries of MDI, TDI and by-products.
Covestro said that made up contracted shortages during the force majeure by making its own market purchases to meet its obligations to its customers.
Covestro does not expect the force majeure situation in Europe to have any negative effects on the company’s declared business targets for 2016.
