Wolfsburg, Germany — Covestro will be exhibiting a range of polyurethane materials and components for automotive interiors at its first visit to the International Suppliers Fair (IZB) on 18-21 October 2016.
The firm will be highlighting its DirectCoating/DirectSkinning technology which, the firm said, enables car makers to give a high degree of personalisation while retaining cost effective production processes.
Additionally, Covestro will be displaying a steering wheel cover made using DirectCoating processes. This will showcase the options that are possible for surfaces made using polyurethane. The two-stage process makes it possible to make components with metallic effects, fine-grain textures with sharp transitions between mat and glossy areas.
The company said that its range of thin thermoplastic polyurethane films are well suited for making sound-attenuating components, embedding lighting elements or sensors.
