By Patrick Raleigh UT On-line news editorMiddlebury, Connecticut-Crompton Corp.'s Urethanes business is raising prices for its Fomrez brand polyester polyols in North America. The increases of $0.20 to $0.25 per pound will take effect 15 Sept, the US group has announced. The increase is in response to a continuing rise in the cost of key raw materials for the polyester polyols, according to Ron Matula, Crompton's Fomrez polyester polyol business manager for the group's Americas region. "The main drivers of this increase are the hike in crude oil and benzene feedstocks as well as tight supply of these products caused by strong demand in the US and Asia-Pacific," Matula said in a company statement. Fomrez polyester polyols are used to produce flexible foams, castable elastomers, thermoplastic urethanes, adhesives, coatings, and shoe soles."
