Everberg, Belgium — Steitz Secura is using a combination of 3D foot scanning from HP, Huntsman polyurethane and a Desma MSI moulding machine and multi-section injection (MSI) polyurethane technology to produce customised work footwear.
The companies have worked together to create a complete system to automatically make tailor-made, differentiated safety shoes, said Huntsman. The machinery and materials package that the companies assembled reflect key trends in footwear industry, the firm added.
Hugo Verbeke, platform manager elastomers at Huntsman polyurethane said: 'Steitz Secura has a reputation for making safety shoes that are hard wearing, protective and comfortable – an equal measure. This project takes up worked the next level — enabling the creation of tailor-made safety shoes that can deliver a new level of personalised comfort and protection.'
Visitors to A+ A 2017 will be able to see the shoes being made in Tent FG 3.9.1 at the Dusseldorf Messe between 17-20 October.
