Birmingham, UK -- Delcam Crispin has released the 2010 versions of its design and manufacturing software for footwear, and says the new versions include significant enhancements to the LastMaker and ShoeDesign programmes. They also offer faster, easier use across the full range, the company said.

Delcam Crispin, the world's largest supplier of CADCAM software to the footwear industry, claims to be the only supplier able to provide a complete solution for design/manufacture of lasts, uppers and soles.

In its LastMaker programme, the company has added the ability to design a boot leg extension for an existing last. Also, improvements to heel height functionality allow height changes without affecting other parts of the design.

For orthopaedic footwear, Lastmaker has added the ability for the last design to match the curvature of the patient's foot, and to add an insole block to the bottom of the last, increasing the overall depth of the last for patients with different leg lengths.

In ShoeDesign, Delcam Crispin has changed the user interface, with new icons added to give easier access to commonly-used commands. Altogether the user interface is clearer and more intuitive, the company said.

A new shape editor has been added, and users can now copy and paste all parameters, including material thickness, texture and colour, from one panel within the upper design to another with a single command.
