Birmingham, UK - Delcam, which makes footwear design software, says its CADCAM technology has helped a Brazilian boot manufacturer reduce production time from days to hours.
Footwear manufacturer Macboot has moved from traditional manual methods of product development to using Delcam's computer-aided design and manufacturing.
"Initially, the company did not have any software to support the design of our shoes and the whole process was done manually," commented Thiago Faleiros, Macboot commercial director. "Consequently, many errors happened due to lack of accuracy, which caused production losses, in both time and money."
The Brazilian company decided to seek a CAD and 3-D printing solution to meet its needs. "As well as analysing the technology qualities of the software through real tests on our products, we sought a supplier that could help us to change the development culture and provide training for our technicians in a very short time," Faleiros said in a Delcam news release.
Macboot said its new technologies have helped it reduce development costs and times from days to hours. Faleiros noted that the flexibility of creating and editing designs in the Delcam software, coupled with the speed and accuracy of the models generated 3-D systems equipment has "revolutionised" the business.
