Guangzhou, China – Taiwan’s fine chemical maker Double Bond Chemical showcased a new anti-hydrolysis agent for polyurethane foam at PU China 2019.
The new product is aimed at footwear. It can also improve flexible foam’s anti-chalking performance, the company’s Shanghai subsidiary general manager Michael Chiu told UTECH-polyurethane.com. He was talking on the sidelines of the event held in Guangzhou on 5-7 September.
Double Bond’s portfolio also covers other additives types, such as anti-scorching and anti-yellowing products. UV curable materials and digital printing ink round out the offer.
The company has been upping its efforts in the development of waterborne products. ‘Environmental regulation in mainland is much more stringent compared with Taiwan,’ said Chiu.
Headquartered in New Taipei City, Double Bond has one site in nearby Yilan and another in mainland’s Yancheng, Jiangsu. Total capacity is 30k/year. The Yilan site has a 5kT/year expansion project scheduled to start up by the end of this year, said Chiu.
Listed on the Taiwan Stock Exchange, the company posted TWD4.5bn ($147m) revenue last year, up 10% from 2017. Net profit jumped 70% to TWD565m.
