Stade, Germany - Dow Chemical Co. has increased capacity for propylene glycol (PG) by 10 kilotonnes per annum (ktpa) at its Stade, Germany plant.
The increase is part of a second optimisation of a large-scale expansion in August 2010.
This move brings total Stade PG capacity to 290 ktpa.
The increase is part of the implementation of an energy and technology optimisation project and did not alter the PG production process or product offering.
Dow said it has continuously grown to become the world leader in PG manufacturing, with over 900 ktpa and five plants , including Stade -- one of the world's largest capacity plants.
Part of Dow's continued investment in PG has seen a new plant being built in Thailand, expected to start-up in the first quarter of 2013.
