Auburn Hills, Michigan - Dow Automotive has introduced new low-emission polyurethane foams for seating systems to improve interior air quality, the company said in a recent statement.
According to Dow, the latest generation of its Specflex ultra-low-emission seating systems "exceeds" the VDA 278 regulation in Germany, which specifies direct thermo-desorption of organic materials. The MDI (methyl diphenyl diisocyanate) polyurethane system exceeds VOC (volatile organic compound) and FOG requirements, the company said.
Dow said the new foams enable OEMs (original equipment manufacturers) to achieve improved air quality while delivering advanced technical properties for applications like arm-rests, head-rests and seats. (RD)
