Auburn Hills, Michigan - Dow Automotive has formed a Commercial Transportation Group to provide solutions and technical expertise to both Tier and OEM customers. The group will help customers solve "challenging technical issues … driven by regulatory compliance and end-user preferences," said Dow, in its 10 Nov announcement.
Target applications for this new group include polyurethane seating foams and components, interior andexterior composite paneling, and diesel particulate filters. The groupwill also be building on Dow Automotive's expertise in glass and plasticbonding, the statement said.
A dedicated team of sales and application development experts will focus on the interests of manufacturers in the bus and truck segments of the global commercial transport markets, commented Dow, focussing on solutions that provide improved vehicle durability, safety, emissions control and fuel efficiency.
Dow Automotive said it aims to offer a "product-neutral" application approach, supported by Dow's Material Engineering Centre and engineers and researchers all around the world. The group will help customers "translate material capabilities to applications, facilitating the reverse engineering needed to develop customised solutions that satisfy technical and economic requirements alike," commented Dow.
