Auburn Hills, Michigan - Dow Automotive has named Dr David Bem its new Global Research & Development (R&D) director. Bem will be responsible for identifying, developing and commercialising new technologies that create sustainable value. He replaces John Hacskaylo who is now chief technology officer at K-Dow Petrochemicals.
Most recently, Bem was senior research director for Dow Hydrocarbons & Energy, Alternative Feedstocks and Basic Chemicals. Before joining Dow, Bem was Global R&D director at Celanese Ltd for the Ticona Engineering Resins business. He also led the Global Acetyls R&D for the Celanese Engineering Resins business.
Dow Automotive claims it is "a leading global provider of technology-driven solutions," to make vehicles safer, stronger, quieter, lighter, cleaner, comfortable and stylish, using Dow Chemical Co.'s range of materials, including polyurethanes, to achieve this.
