Midland, Michigan - Dow Polyurethanes has completed its purchase of British Vita's polyurethane systems business, Hyperlast Ltd. Through this deal, Dow is extending its systems business, adding Hyperlast's elastomer systems enterprises in the UK and North America as well as the activities of Autothane Ltd. The latter is "a leading manufacturer of advanced automotive suspension components," said Dow's 2 May announcement.
Adding these units "supports Dow's strategy to drive growth in its performance portfolio" and "generate more consistent earnings" the company said.
Hyperlast's range adds innovative spray cast elastomers for the marine, engineering resin, oil and gas pipeline and automotive industries to Dow's systems portfolio for its global customer base.
"Our acquisition of Hyperlast further underscores our commitment to provide our customers with the most advanced polyurethane system technologies," said Juan Antonio Merino, global general manager for Dow Polyurethane Systems, in Dow's statement.
Dow Polyurethane Systems has 23 facilities across Europe, Asia, Middle East and Africa, North and Latin America. Parent group Dow Chemical Co. is also a leading producer of polyurethane raw materials including propylene oxide and propylene glycol, methylene diphenyl diisocyanate, toluene diisocyanate, and polyols.
