Midland, Michigan-At PU China at the ShanghaiMart, September 5-7, 2006, Dow Corning says it will "showcase its broad range of silicone solutions for polyurethane foam applications."
Technical experts from Dow will also give a presentation on "The Role of Silicone Surfactants in Polyurethane Foam."
Visitors to Dow Corning's stand (booth number 818) can learn about the company's extensive line of silicone surfactants for foam. This included products for flexible, moulded, rigid, shoe sole and other speciality foams, said the Midland-headquartered company.
The technical presentation will take place Wednesday 6 Sept from 14.00 to 15.00 in Room 2. Presenters Masao Takase, application engineering and technical service manager for Dow Corning Toray Co. Ltd, and Boo Kuang Hoe, business and technical consultant for Dow Corning's Polyurethane Additives business, will explain how silicone surfactants can increase the compatibility of raw materials and decrease the surface tension of the polyurethane foam system. The presentation will address four key areas of foam development: emulsification, nucleation, the prevention of coalescence and stabilisation of the cell membrane. The presentation will be given in English by Takase and in Chinese by Boo.
Dow Corning claims to be a global leader and pioneer in the development of silicon-based materials for polyurethane foam and says it has worldwide resources dedicated to the support of the polyurethane foam market.
In addition to a broad line of silicone surfactants, Dow Corning also offers polyurethane manufacturers services and other solutions that can help them grow their business, expand into new global markets and reduce costs. Locally appropriate product options are available worldwide. Technical support and customer service are available globally as well.
Christian Velasquez, Dow Corning's marketing manager for Performance Chemicals, says, "While silicone surfactants represent only a small portion of polyurethane foam ingredients, they can have a considerable impact on the physical properties of the foam."
