Midland, Michigan - Dow Corning will in future sell its silicone surfactants and other silicon-based solutions directly to the polyurethane foam industry, the company announced, 15 May 2007.
Dow Corning had served the polyurethane foam additives market since 1988 exclusively under the Dabco trade name, in a joint agreement with Air Products and Chemicals. Now it has a new arrangement, under which it will continue to offer products through Air Products and the Dabco brand, but will also start selling directly to customers direct access under the Dow Corning brand.
"Many factors prompted this new arrangement," explained Christian Velasquez, Dow Corning's global marketing manager for polyurethane additives. These include Dow Corning's recent acquisition of Nippon Unicar's Silicone Division, its focus on materials innovations for the polyurethane industry, and our interest in developing an increased market presence," Velasquez added.
Dow Corning said its materials for polyurethane manufacturers are supported by technical expertise, services, and custom solutions, with locally appropriate product options, technical support, and customer service available."
