Midland, Michigan – Dow has added two new surfactants to its range of products for flexible foam applications.
One of the new materials, Vorasurf DC5951LV, is aimed at MDI/TDI systems with EO-based polyols for low-to-medium density conventional foams. It can also be used successfully with formulations that call for auxiliary blowing agents, the company said.
The second, Vorasurf FF5959, is described as a new generation surfactant that offers finer control over cell size and recovery properties. This is aimed at flexible foam applications.
The new products are designed to help formulators lower VOC and emissions from the finished foam, and to help users reach the requirements of standards such as IKEA's IOS-MAT-0010, Dow said.
Sachit Goyal, technical service and development specialist at the company, will be discussing the materials in a Urethanes Technology International webinar scheduled for 19 November.
