Schwalbach, Germany - Dow Automotive has introduced a low-emission polyurethane solution, Voranol Voractiv VM 779, that "provides improved air quality in passenger compartment and optimised processing features that benefit manufacturing techniques and environments," the company said recently.
According to Dow, major acoustic systems supplier HP Pelzer Chemie uses Voranol Voractiv for sound-insulation parts for passenger and truck compartments for German customers.
The company said the new low-emission PU solution offers a range of processing benefits such as excellent foam flowability, improved compression-set properties, greater resistance to humid conditions and reducing amine emissions by up to 50 percent during the mould release process. Voranol Voractiv also reduces the amount of VOCs (volatile organic compounds), thereby improving the ownership lifecycle, the company added.
