Scwalbach, Germany - Dow Automotive Systems is introducing the third generation of its Betamate urethane and epoxy structural adhesives for body-in-white design, a recent company statement revealed.
These new adhesives, Dow said, differ from the previous two generations because of its "special process and integration properties." This enables Dow to meet the demands of vehicle manufacturers who are shifting from adhesive performance to "more efficient integration into existing production processes," the statement said.
According to Dow, benefits include shelf life of up to ten months, improved and constant rheology over temperature and time for better processing and high temperature resistance to help optimise maintenance and reduce costs.
"After ten years of focusing on the performance of our structural adhesives, we recognised that in the future, process integration will be growingly important competitive factor in this market segment." said Marc van den Biggelaar, market manager Body Structure Solutions at Dow Automotive Systems.
