Horgen, Switzerland – Dow has launched a new version of its polyurethane insulation for metal panels. The technology, V Plus Perform Next, builds on its existing V Plus Perform, adding low carbon and circular ingredients to the energy efficiency and fire safety features of the legacy product.
The alternative raw materials used in the panel insulation are sourced from bio-based feedstocks from sources that do not compete with the food and feed chains, and also from both post-consumer and post-industrial waste. These feedstocks are allocated using the mass balance chain of custody, validated by ISCC Plus.
Dow also said more than a quarter of the total energy used in its production is renewable. This has EU Renewable Energy Systems certification.
‘The new energy performance of buildings directive adds urgency for buildings that require energy efficient insulation with decreased embodied carbon,’ said Alberto Mercati, marketing fellow at Dow. ‘V Plus Perform Next supports insulated panel manufacturers to select lower carbon and circular construction ingredients from the design phase to the delivery of a novel class of products for more sustainable buildings.’
