Midland, Michigan – Dow has developed a new binder for waterborne inks used to print on synthetic and natural fibres for the swimwear and streetwear markets.
'Dowsil Print 041 Binder helps inks formulators and screen-printing shops meet customer demands for soft hand feel, and bright colours that don't fade or run,' said Padmadas Nair, senior technical development leader.
He added that the binders are designed to be drop-in replacements to conventional inks. They also offer high washing, rub and ironing fastness compared to conventional alternatives to PVC inks, said the company.
The binder is an acrylic-polyurethane material.
