By Liz White, UT contributing editor Midland, Michigan-Dow Chemical Co. will increase prices for its tripropylene glycol (TPG) regular grade and acrylate grade products in North and Latin America by $0.06/lb, with effect from 10 Aug 2004,"Tripropylene glycol supply overall remains extremely tight," said Antulio Borneo, commercial director, oxide and glycols at Dow, adding that, Dow is "experiencing strong demand across the globe." The Dow executive added that "raw material and energy costs also remain a concern." Dow claims industry leadership in the manufacture of propylene glycol, with global capacity of more than 450 kilotonnes: the company offers propylene oxide, monopropylene glycol, dipropylene glycol and TPG globally. The regular TPG grade is used as an initiator for urethane polyol synthesis from epoxides and as the polyol in some polyurethane foam systems. "
