Bangkok -- Dow Chemical Co. is to invest $100 million into its previously announced propylene glycol plant in Thailand. This follows the recent competition of its $3 billion Thai Growth Project that began in 2006.
Andrew Liveris, Dow ceo, was quoted as saying that Thailand's pro-investor policies and human resources were factors in the company's continued investment in the country, according to a report in the Bangkok Post, which was confirmed by a Dow spokesperson.
The PG plant, announced 16 Dec 2011, is due to finish construction this year and will have a production capacity of up to 150 kilotonnes-per-annum.
PG is used in the manufacture of a wide range of urethane products, such as the polyol in some polyurethane foam systems or as a component in PU and polyurea elastomers.
