Midland, Michigan - Dow Chemical Co. is to introduce lower-yellow-index thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) elastomers, which its claims will offer "best-in-class" colour performance, as well as "significant aesthetic, weatherability and processing benefits."
"This new family of elastomers, was specifically developed to address market demand for TPU products with a lower yellow index," said Mike Szabo, Dow's product director for thermoplastic polyurethanes, in a 24 April Dow announcement.
"The new 'Low-YI' products will deliver significant colour-related advantages across a wide range of applications," Szabo added.
The TPUs will be commercialised under the Pellethane name by the end of 2007, in both ether and ester grades, and at various hardness levels, Dow said. epw"
