Buchs, Switzerland - Acima Specialty Chemicals, a business unit of The Dow Chemical Company, is commercialising Metatin Katalysator 1230 Catalyst, a dimethyltin catalyst that was developed as a new option for companies using dibutyltin and dioctylin catalysts.
Metatin Katalysator 1230 Catalyst offers excellent reactivity and ease of formulation in products ranging from polyurethanes to polysilicones, said Dow in a 1 Dec announcement. It can replace dioctyltin catalysts and dibutyltin catalysts and is self-classified as CMR Cat 3, pending review under the European Chemical Agency's (ECHA) regulations.
"Metatin Katalysator 1230 Catalyst performs better than existing dibutyltin catalysts," Dow claims. "The key benefit is a fast and reliable response, as well as having one of the more favourable regulatory profiles among organotin catalysts," said Cord Manegold, marketing manager for Acima.
This product is already in use by customers around the world. To learn more about the catalyst, contact Cord Manegold ([email protected]) or your local Acima Specialty Chemicals distributor.
