Frankfurt, Germany -- Dr Alexander Strietholt from Dow Deutschland GmbH & Co. OHG was elected the new spokesman for polyurethanes, the largest specialist group within the Specialist Association for Foamed Plastics and Polyurethanes (FSK) eV. Strietholt succeeds Lutz Ohmstede, who recently retired as managing director at Büfa and from chairing the polyurethanes group in the FSK.
Strietholt, who has been working with polyurethanes for over 20 years and has been active in the FSK since 1993, said his goal, "…is to work together in a well functioning and continuously increasing team of PU industrial companies, to master the challenges of the upcoming years."
He also aims, along with the management board and office personnel, to coordinate PU interests among the almost 100 FSK member companies with PU interests.
The polyurethanes group in the FSK has been in existence for 15 years and is, besides two European associations, the biggest in Europe. Martin Dietrich from Getzner Werkstoffe, Austria remains vice spokesman for the PU grouping.
The election took place during the visit of 50 member companies to machine manufacturing company KraussMaffei in Munich.
At the focus of attention were technical and political issues as well as the current market situation. Frank Peters, new managing director for reaction process machinery at KraussMaffei, explained the situation as far as orders and adaptation measures to the current market situation, said the FSK's 2 July statement.
All of the companies present agreed with the market evaluation: that the downhill slide of the last 10 months has stopped and things are slowly beginning to relax, the FSK added. "This time is being used by companies to work on new projects and products and yet at the same time to keep things under control economy wise," FSK chairman Albrecht Manderscheid commented.
The FSK's polyurethanes group agreed the programme for the next PU conference and also on substantive positions and key areas of work for the upcoming months. The Polyurethane Conference will take place 10/11 Nov 2009 in Würzburg, Germany. The FSK reports that "strictly technical lectures will fade into the background a bit this year to benefit market analysis and future perspectives. The programme will be available soon at www.fsk-vsv.de.
In Munich Werner Faßbender, who for 30 years was responsible for sales at KraussMaffei and lately head of sales for Germany, was given a retirement send-off. Peters and and Manderscheid presented Faßbender with a Certificate of Thanks for his activities in the industry.
