Bethesda, Maryland – Dow's Betaseal Glass Bonding Adhesive has won an award at the Adhesive and Sealant Council's Annual Meeting.
The polyurethane material was awarded first runner up in the ASC's 2nd Annual Innovation Awards.
Dow said its material has 'a proven track record of providing exceptional performance, lowering costs and reducing assembly times.' It is designed to structurally bond and seal stationary vehicle glass.
'We were pleased with the quality of the submissions for the program' said Steve Duren, ASC senior director.
The innovation award has two categories: small business and the primary award. Independent judges reviewed gave entries marks based on Science and innovation, up to 30% of the total; applicability and impact 9(10%); Impact of the technology relative to state of the art (30%); Qualifications, Experience and Capabilities (20%) and Significant Milestone (10%).
The primary award went to Bostik for an olein-elastic high-performance attachment adhesive.
Michigan State University and POET took home the small business s award for a lignin adhesive for wood products.
