Porto Recatini, Italy – Mondial Suole has chosen Dow's Enerlyte polyurethane elastomer to make soles for its iTen range of footwear.
Dow's Enerlite used in new range of athleisure soles
The company, founded in 1978 on the Adriatic coast of Italy, chose the material because of its soft touch and durability.
Dow added that the choice was helped because the soling material is blown with water. This, Dow added, makes the soling material more environmentally friendly than alternatives.
Dow said that the material has 'the composition and morphology that enable customers to develop soling that combine comfort and performance'.
The shoes are aimed at the athleisure segment of the footwear market.
Mondial Suole, located about 200 km north east of Rome, started its business by making sandal soles out of polyester-based formulations, but has since branched out into polyether systems and now moulds both, Dow said.
