Istanbul -- A new eco-friendly artificial leather fabric will be produced by Turkish firm Poliser using a DuPont Tate & Lyle Bio Products building block, the US company announced.
The 70% bio-content content leather will use the DuPont’s Susterra 1,3-propanediol (PDO) as a crosslinker.
A peer-reviewed life cycle assessment confirmed that bio-based propanediol can reduce greenhouse gases by up to 40% and uses 40% less non-renewable energy in its production than petroleum-based glycols.
Ekin Tukek, a board member of the Flokser Group – of which Poliser is one division, said: “We believe the collaboration will develop the industry and bring fresh ideas.”
