Burgos, Spain — Grupo Antolin, which uses polyurethane extensively in car interior components, generated sales of EUR 1.2bn in Q3 2019. This is lower by 1.7% than the same period in 2018.

EBITDA across the business rose 45% and hit EUR 81m Q3 of 2019.

Lower sales in China, Mexico and UK were greater than the rise in sales in the United States, Germany and the Czech Republic. Said the company.

Headliners and soft trim grew by 4.8% or EUR 20.4m in the quarter. This was offset by declines in other business areas.

Looking more closely at the company's headliners and soft trim business, sales were EUR 450.0m in Q3 of 2019. This compares with EUR 429.6m Q3 2018.

At the same time, EBITDA in the division increased by 62%. It hit EUR 13.6m in Q3 of 2019. This compares with EUR 8.4m the 2018 period.

EBITDA grew because of higher sales and production ramp ups in the US, Germany and Czech Republic which offset sales declines in China, Mexico and the UK.

Sales fell in both the first and second quarters of the year. There were Sales increases in Slovakia, for the Jaguar LandRover Discovery and Defender models as well as Audi)in Europe; and Alabama, where the company supplies Daimler. But these were not enough to compensate for revenue declines at Jaguar in the UK and Germany. The German fall is linked to restructuring at VW.

The company's doors and hard trim business sales grew by 7% between the first half 2018 and 2019. They reached EUR 999m the first half of 2019. This compares with EUR 936m in the first half of 2018.

Sales rose here because of increasing production of the Dodge Ram in the US and Audi Q3 in Turnov, Czech Republic.

The company's other businesses include cockpits and lighting. Here sales shrank by 4.0% between the first half 2018 and 2019. They reached EUR 685.2m the first half of 2019. This compares with EUR 713.6m in the first half of 2018.
