Helsinki - The European Chemicals Agency, based in Helsinki, announced 29 April that important aspects of the "Only Representative" activities described in the Reach (registration, evaluation and authorization of chemicals) regulations are being revised.
The latest information on this aspect of the regulation can be found at the ECHA website, which has also been recently revamped to allow easier access to information, ECHA says.
Only representatives are appointed by entities making substances or preparations outside of the EU, who wish to import these into the region. They nominate an only representative within the EU to carry out the required registration of their substances that are imported into the community.
Such a representative will have to fulfil the registration obligations and comply with all other obligations of importers under Reach, ECHA says.
ECHA also notes that the pre-registration web section was launched on 14 May, 2008.
Another new aspect relevant to the polyurethanes sector is that updated guidance for monomers and polymer was published on 26 March.
