Bethesda, Maryland -- The US Adhesive and Sealant Council, Inc. (ASC) says that Dr Martin Regalia, chief economist at the US Chamber of Commerce, will be its keynote speaker for the ASC 2009 Spring Convention.
Regalia's presentation will echo the convention theme-Managing the Crisis ... Our Industry Coming Together -- through his analysis of current economic drivers and their impact on American business, and economic forecast for the year ahead, said the ASC in a 10 Feb announcement.
ASC added that hundreds of adhesives and sealants professionals will be at the Renaissance Austin Hotel in Austin, Texas, 5-7 April, for the meeting. Other speakers include Jim Lindell, president of Thorsten Consulting Group Inc., who will discuss surviving the recession and Robert Matthews of attorneys McKenna Long & Aldridge llp, who will present a thorough update on the European Union's REACH regulation on chemicals.
"In these challenging times, it is important for us to network, exchange ideas and explore best practices," said ASC president Lawrence Sloan, in the announcement. "The dynamic general sessions and educational programmes will provide attendees with practical tools to ensure their companies' survival, while the venue is an economical way to meet with multiple colleagues in one place."
The educational programme will feature topics including sustainable adhesives and sealants, formulation technology, sealant performance, strengthening distributor and supplier relationships, and small business strategies.
ASC will also run a technical short course on pressure sensitive adhesives PSA).
Accompanying the meeting, on 6 April 2009, the ASC EXPO will be "the largest adhesive and sealant product showcase in the western hemisphere," said the ASC.
