Carson City, Nevada - Urethane elastomer processor Elasco Inc. has been selected by a major research and development company to work on production of a patented LED light transmission product.
Elasco's parent group Deltron Inc. said that on 12 April 2010 Elasco signed a general supplier and patent agreement with a leading diversified technology company with sales exceeding $20 000 million and operations in more than 60 countries.
According to its website, Elasco has been an innovator in polyurethane elastomer technology for more than 30 years, and has developed a leading position in engineering and technical capabilities.
Through the current arrangement, Elasco will provide expertise on the tooling, fixtures, equipment, moulding and manufacturing processes for a new product, in preparation for mass production. Elasco will also produce working prototypes, a Deltron statement said.
The design is a patented light-transmission product using long-lasting, environmentally friendly LED light sources. The product will have applications ranging from automotive interior and exterior lighting, lamp task lighting, decorative spotlighting and utility lighting.
Henry Larrucea, Deltron chief executive officer, commented that Elasco was selected for this project, "because we have the technical ability to meet their exacting requirements and capacity to deliver on their product development objectives."
Larrucea said that Deltron hopes to turn the collaboration into a "very lucrative manufacturing contract."
In a separate 1 June announcement, Larrucea, commented on Deltron's good growth prospects through both Elasco and another subsidiary, Blu Vu, which makes proprietary technology for breathing equipment used in extreme environments. Elasco can make Blu Vu's products in its Garden Grove, California facility, Larrucea pointed out.
"This year Deltron will foster growth within our existing businesses and seek out other companies to add revenue and niche market leadership to our organisation," he concluded.
