Hanover, Germany -- An innovative elevator suspension rope which combines polyurethane-encased steel threads has been developed by ContiTech
The company - part of tyre manufacturer Continental – claims that its PolyRope can last three times longer than traditional steel rope and is 20 % lighter.
ContiTech’s 49-stranded 2mm thick PU-encased steel cables have already won European Commission certification (Lift Directive 95/16), the company said.
They are available in sizes 25mm and 50mm.
