Cincinnati, Ohio — Emery Oleochemicals is launching four new REACH-compliant bio-based polyols for a broad range of applications in the CASE market.
Emery said the materials are based on ethylene glycol azelate triols with different molecular weights and are designated: Emerox 14060 (Mw 2,900); 14511 (Mw 1,000); 14550 (Mw 2,000) and 14555 (Mw 2,000 with enhanced hydrophobicity).
The polyols are designed to help produce CASE polyurethanes with improved tensile and tear strength along with higher elongation at break. Aside from improved physical properties, the new Emerox polyols offer enhanced UV, oxidative, moisture resistance and resistance to a number of solvents, Emery said.
Emery added that the polyols "deliver exceptional performance enhancements rivalling or exceeding the performance obtained from petroleum-based products."
