Chennai, India - Manali Petrochemicals stopped production at one of its polyol plants after emissions breached an environmental permit.
The company made the announcement to the Bombay Stock Exchange on 25 December 2018. This followed a notice to stop production by the Indian Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).
The order to stop followed a CPCB inspection in November 2018. The CPCB said it effluent from a treatment unit connected with Plant - 1 violated permissible limits.
The CPCB served the order under Section 5 of the Environment Protection Act, 1985. This shuts the plant until it complies with the standard.
The company said it is working to solve the problem.
Manali's second plant on the site in Chennai is unaffected.
Manali Petrochemicals makes propylene glycol and polyether polyols.
