Washington -- The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is proposing a significant new use rule for TDI chemicals, 2,4-toluene diisocyanate, 2,6-toluene diisocyanate and toluene diisocyanate unspecified isomers.
The announcement was made yesterday – 15 Jan, 2015 – and industry comments on the proposal need to be submitted to the organisation by 15 March.
It covers use in a consumer products except coatings, elastomers, adhesives, binders and sealants that result in less than or equal to 0.1% by weight of TDI and importers or processors of articles that would not apply.
Manufacturers would be required to notify the EPA at least 90 days before processing the chemicals to give the organisation the opportunity to evaluate the intended use.
You can submit comments – under the reference EPA-HQ-OPPT-2011-0976 – to the EPA through this portal. Information for contributing paper-based information on the matter can be found at the organisation’s website.
