Shanghai, China - The Estane Engineered Polymers group of Lubrizol Specialty Chemicals (Shanghai) Co. Ltd claims it can now offer a faster, more customised service to the wire and cable sector.
"Since the 2007 Estane thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) facility expansion in the Song Jiang Industrial Zone near Shanghai, we have been able to supply local customers with shorter lead times and faster response rates, as well as, developing customised TPUs for the Asian market," said Timothy Madden, business director of Estane TPU, Asia Pacific, in a 13 May company announcement.
One technology being developed by the Lubrizol Corp. subsidiary for the Asia Pacific region is a material with a silky matte surface, while halogen-free grades with excellent flame retardance are also on offer. These are used in wire and cable jacketing for geophysical, telecommunications, industrial, medical, consumer electronics and automotive cable.
Lubrizol claims its Estane TPU "is ideal for these applications," as its unique properties include excellent toughness, flexibility under low temperature, and superior abrasion resistance that extend the durability and service life of such cables.
