New York -Coating maker, Sherwin-Williams has been named as one of the World's Most Ethical Companies for 2013 at the Global Ethics Summit in New York City. The coatings manufacturer was recognised for its 'outstanding commitment to ethical leadership, compliance practices and corporate social responsibility'.

The World's Most Ethical Companies honour is given annually by Ethisphere, an international think tank dedicated to the creation, advancement and sharing of best practices in business ethics, corporate social responsibility, anti-corruption and sustainability. Competition this year saw a record number of nominations from companies in over100 countries and 36 industries.

The Ethisphere Institute's selection process included reviewing each company's code of ethics, its history of appearing in litigation and breaking regulations; evaluating investment in innovation and sustainable business practices; looking at activities designed to improve corporate citizenship; and studying nominations from senior executives, industry peers, suppliers and customers.
