Brussels, Belgium – Trade association Europur has been appointed as a member of the Ecodesign Forum, the European Commission’s expert group on ecodesign for sustainable products & energy labelling. Europur will contribute insights from the flexible polyurethane foam industry.
The Ecodesign Forum will support the implementation of the Commission’s Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR). The group brings together a broad range of stakeholders and ecodesign experts who will help prepare requirements and working plans for ecodesign in the EU. It will also consider other relevant areas for the ESPR process.
ESPR came into force in July 2024, and is the cornerstone of the European Commission’s approach to environmentally sustainable and circular products. It is part of a package of measures central to achieving the aims of the 2020 Circular Economy Action Plan. The aim is to help the EU reach its environmental and climate goals, double circularity for materials use, and assist in achieving the 2030 energy efficiency targets.
The forum’s first meeting will be held on 19 and 20 February.
